Why I do what I do?

When I was planning to move to New Zealand, I asked my agent a very simple question:

“Have you been to New Zealand? Have you studied in NZ?”

She replied: No. And that’s when it hit me.

How can someone sell me the dream of moving overseas when they haven’t even lived it? When they haven’t walked the path I was about to take?

That moment changed everything for me. I realised I had to take charge of my own journey. I couldn’t rely solely on the information I was being given. I had to do my own research, ask the hard questions, and take ownership of my future.

Let me be clear: I’m not here to criticize agents. I understand they’re doing their job. They have targets to meet and university contracts to fulfill. But let’s be honest how much of the information they provide is truly helpful?

A lot of it is over-promised and under-delivered.

I’ve seen videos where agents promise international students permanent residency in New Zealand within 2 to 3 years. And yes, that’s true for some students. But it’s not the reality for everyone.

When I say international students, I mean graduates, high schoolers, professionals looking to start or reset their careers in NZ, not those who arrive with PR already in hand.

And when things don’t work out, who pays the price?

It’s the international students. Every. Single. Time.

Not only do they pay 2–3 times more in tuition than domestic students, but they also bear the emotional, mental, and physical toll. Their families feel it too stressed, worried, and thousands of miles away.

My Leap of Faith

In 2018, I packed my bags and moved to New Zealand. I left behind everything I knew and took a leap of faith into the unknown.

What I thought would be a year long study abroad turned into a life changing decision.

I graduated. I built a career from the ground up with zero work experience when I landed here.

Today I am a proud permanent resident of New Zealand.

Your journey won’t look like mine. It might be faster. It might be slower. It might be completely different. And that’s okay.

What This Is About?

Tech Med Pathway is about the process the culture shock, the small wins, the hardest parts of immigration, jobs, life, family, homesickness, loneliness and how we overcame all of it.

A few of us international students came together and asked: Where are our stories? Why aren’t we speaking directly to other international students?

That’s how Tech Med Pathway was born.

We’re not agents. We’re am educational consultancy organisation built by people who’ve lived the journey. And yes, I have strong feelings about the word “agent” but that’s a conversation for another time.

A Promise to You

To everyone who has supported me thank you. Your presence has led me to this moment. This is my promise to you. This is my give back.

We’ll sit down and talk about the good, the bad, and the beautiful in this slice of heaven called New Zealand.

Welcome to my website and blog. Let’s get your story started.
